De 26x18 cm. Com [viii], 48 fólios. Encadernação da época, com lombada em pele fcom erros a ouro e pastas revestidas a papel encerado com gravação a seco em esquadria. Folhas de guarda originais em papel de lustro.

Ilustrado com 24 águas tintas, aguareladas à mão, representando trajes tradicionais russos.

Obra composta por folha de anterrosto, folha de rosto e «Notice sur la Russie» nas páginas iniciais não numeradas; seguem-se as 24 gravuras, cada uma delas com uma folha com a respectiva explicação.

Exemplar com algumas manchas na margem interior das primeiras quatro folhas e primeira gravura, sinais de humidade afectando a última folha e a última gravura.

Apresenta os seguintes erros de encadernação:

- Explicação da gravura 8 está trocada com a da gravura 9 (que está numerada Pl. 8 bis).

- Explicação da gravura 16 encadernada pela margem exterior, ficando a segunda página antes da primeira.

- Após a gravura 16, a numeração das pranchas e respectivas explicações recomeça da 15 (sem repetição de figuras ou explicações) retomando a numeração correcta nas duas últimas gravuras (23 e 24).

Obra importante para o estudo da etnografia russa e da história de cada uma das vinte e quatro regiões russas aqui representadas.

O autor (1767-1846), natural de Marselha, foi um dos fundadores e presidente honorário da Société de Géographie de Paris. Produziu vasta bibliografia no domínio das viagens e da história marítima.

Illustrated with 24 hand watercoloured aquatints, depicting traditional Russian costumes.

The work consists of an introduction, title page and 'Notice sur la Russie' on the initial unnumbered pages; it is followed by the 24 aquatints, each of which has a leaf with the corresponding caption.

Copy with some stains on the inner hinge of the first four leaves and first engraving; signs of moisture affecting the last leaf and the last engraving.

It has the following binding errors:

- Caption of Figure 8 is switched with that of Figure 9 (which is numbered Pl. 8 bis).

- Caption of engraving 16 bound by the outer margin, the second page being before the first.

- After engraving 16, the numbering of the plates and their captions start again from 15 (no repetition of figures or captions) and the correct numbering is repeated on the last two engravings (23 and 24).

An important work for the study of Russian ethnography and the history of each of the twenty-four Russian regions represented here.

The author (1767-1846), a native of Marseille, was one of the founders and honorary president of the Société de Géographie de Paris. He produced a vast bibliography in the field of travel and maritime history.
